The State of New Jersey’s Rental Assistance Program (RAP) has increased the number of months of CDBG-DR rental assistance it can provide to eligible RREM and LMI Program homeowners. Homeowners may now be able to receive up to a total of 40 months of CDBG-DR RAP assistance.
Extending the RAP assistance period to 40 months will help ease the financial burden for homeowners actively participating in RREM and the LMI Program who are still rebuilding their primary residences and living in rental housing.
The additional months of CDBG-DR RAP assistance are the result of a waiver request the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs (DCA) submitted to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) last year. DCA is pleased to announce that HUD has now approved the waiver request, as well as the State’s Action Plan Amendment allowing the additional assistance.
The extension of the RAP assistance period is effective immediately. The State of New Jersey is working hard to ensure that RAP assistance is paid to rental property owners without interruption.
For questions, please contact the New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency, which administers RAP, at 1-800-NJHOUSE or via email at SSBGRental@njhmfa.gov. DCA’s Sandy Constituent Services can also be reached at (609) 292-3750 or via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please note that RAP is no longer accepting applications.
