Flood Hazard Risk Reduction Programs
New Jersey is utilizing Sandy recovery funding to implement risk reduction measures. The funds are being used to acquire easements to property in vulnerable coastal areas in support of on-going and proposed beach erosion control, storm damage reduction and flood control projects in partnership with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection. Some of the funding is also being distributed as grants to municipalities and counties for the development and construction of risk reduction infrastructure projects in areas with a high vulnerability to storm surge or flooding.
